The
beauty and complexity of nature has always inspired me.
In mosaics, I discovered the perfect medium to capture
the natural world by using the visual and tactile
qualities of tile. I am
captivated by movement and strive through the use of
line, texture and color to depict the motion and variety
in nature.
Enid
grew up in the shadow of Pikes Peak and the Rocky
Mountains of Colorado. She began art lessons in oil and
water color as a young girl. In college she branched
out into wood carving and pottery, and as an adult into
weaving. Her love of the outdoors inspired her to
pursue a career in geology, where she eventually
received a Doctorate in Geology from the University of
Idaho. The beauty of stone has been an attraction since
her years of hiking throughout the Rocky Mountains, the
Cascades and elsewhere in the world. Enid was attracted
to the mosaics of the ancient world and in 2000 designed
and installed her first mosaic backsplash. Since then
she has continued to make mosaics and has expanded her
knowledge by attending classes with Master Mosaicists in
the US and Italy, and by attending Trade Shows and
Conferences. Her interest in mosaic has expanded from
the architectural application to, more recently, the use
of mosaic as Fine Art. |
